Our team at Smoky Vistas is proud to announce its support for the important and life-changing work of the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home.
Smoky Mountain Children’s Home is a private, faith-based, non-profit, multi-service agency that provides care, love, and healing to at-risk children and youth who have no one else to advocate or care for them. A continuum of trauma-informed programs are offered to meet the unique, individual needs of children and to strengthen their family’s system, regardless of age, capacity, race, and creed.
“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
— James 1:27
On December 17, 1920, four young children were placed in a small frame house in Cleveland, Tennessee, in the care of its first “matron,” Lillian Kinsey. Then in 1949, the children’s home was moved from Cleveland to Sevierville, Tennessee.
Today, the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home creates a safe and supportive environment that allows residents to discover their talents and build on their strengths. This is accomplished by the excellent care of trained staff and provides each resident the opportunity to overcome the circumstances of their past while exploring a world of opportunity for their future.
2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of this children’s home. We celebrated this great milestone with a Centennial Christmas dinner on December 17th, 2020 at the Sevierville Convention Center with a silent auction to raise funds for the home.
